Welcome to the Georgia-Russia Optical Fibre Submarine Cable System
- gateway to the Caucasus
The Georgia-Russia Optical Fibre Submarine Cable System was
established in 1999 creating a Fibre Optical Gateway between Europe to
the Caucasus region in the CIS and onwards to Iran, Central Asia and
East Asia.
The Georgia-Russia Optical Fibre Submarine Cable System is currently equipped with 16chs 40Gbit/s DWDM transmission system, supplied by Alcatel
Submarine Networks. The System is jointly owned and operated by
Rostelecom, Russia, FOPTNET, Georgia and DanTelco, Denmark.
Exclusively optical fibre based connections.
The Georgia-Russia Optical Fibre Submarine Cable System
connects Novorossisk in Russia and Poti in Georgia. It provides onwards
access:
- via BSFOCS
optical fibre submarine cable system to Odessa in Ukraine and Varna in
Bulgaria,
- via ITUR optical fibre submarine cable system to Odessa in Ukraine,
Istanbul in Turkey and Palermo in Italy,
- via Rostelecom's
terrestrial optical fibre network to Europe and
- via FOPTNET's
terrestrial optical fibre network onwards to the Causacus region
(Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaidjan), Iran, Kasahkstan, Central Asian
Republics (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tadjikistan), and East Asia via
the Trans Asia Europe (TAE) optical fibre
transmission system.
Operators may either lease capacity in the Georgia-Russia Optical Fibre
Submarine Cable System or obtain Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) for
the lifetime of the System. Available capacity from minimum one E1 (2
Mbit/sec).
Capacity is available for all kinds of tele-services such as Ethernet, data,
internet links, voice over IP connections (VOIP) and classic telephony.
